Hybrid Cars How To: H22 Shifter Into a CRX

1. Click on the header above. Make sure in your printer menu you choose "None" in the Page Scaling drop down menu. Cut out the pattern on the PDF document.

2. Cut out the printed pattern. Cut out the holes marked "existing holes" but leave the other holes intact.	3. The pattern should look like this when done	4. Remove the shifter console and handbrake brake console and trim the carpet as shown so it can be moved out of the way.
5. Use 10mm bolts in the existing holes to hold the pattern in place.	6. Trace the inside of the pattern onto the floor of the car.	7. Mark the center of the four holes in the pattern you did not cut out with a punch.
8. The traced pattern should look something like this when done. The center punched marks have been highlighted with a cross so they can be seen in the picture.	9. Cut out the area you traced in the pattern using a reciprocating saw or die-grinder.	10. The holes should look something like this when done.
11. An oval hole should be made about 10 inches in front of the shifter for the shift cables.	12. A 94-97 Accord shifter assembly is used with this pattern and can be purchased directly from Honda or a salvage yard. Get the shifter cables from the same year vehicle. When purchasing it from Honda, make sure you get the mounting grommets and bushings too. They will fit on most H22 five-speed transmissions.	14. After installing the shifter cables the console must be trimmed to fit over the larger mechanism. We enlarged the consol opening to use a `96 Civic Shift boot, which cleared the Accord shift mechanism.
15. The shifter cables are routed over the rear cross member to the left-hand side of the engine bay and will be routed over the rear engine bracket to the transmission once the engine is installed.
