With 2.4 liters of displacement, plenty of air to spool the GT2871R turbo and sustained high-rev operation, Symonds needed to curb power. Using the rev-based boost control capabilities of the AEM EMS engine management, Symonds tuned the S13 to hit max power with 12.5psi of boost by 4000rpm and slowly tapered boost down to 6psi as the revs climbed. This netted 300 wheel-hp from 4000rpm to redline (which is 6800rpm), as well as 380lb-ft of torque at 4000rpm-enough to keep up with C5 Z06 Corvettes coming out of corners. It makes the car drive like a V8, with constant power for half the engine's rev range. In other words, WRC-like power delivery without the restrictor plate.
