The Cavalier and Sunfire can't move like the award-winning Ford Focus and peppy Dodge/Plymouth Neon, but that's not to say they can't be massaged into great handling cars. The current Cavalier and Sunfire still share the same basic platform and chassis layout as their early '80s vintage predecessors. They have MacPherson struts in front, and a heavy and cumbersome torsion beam axle in the rear. As a result, these cars do not handle nearly as nimbly or precisely as a Focus in stock form, but fortunately, the aftermarket is more than ready and willing to help you turn your J-car into a real canyon carver with carefully tuned performance suspension components.
